Lesley Bandy grew up in New Zealand training in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus under Doreen O'Leary, and was coached by Rowena Jackson. She went to the UK at age 15 to study ballet full-time - first at the Scottish Ballet School and then at the Royal Ballet School in London.

Lesley danced with the Royal Opera Ballet at Covent Garden, then as Principal and Adagio dancer in production shows - Lido in Paris, Hong Kong and the USA. She guested in classical ballet roles, in contemporary dance concerts, and had many pieces choreographed on her.

Lesley performed many of the leading classical ballet roles including: Giselle, Myrtha, Sugar Plum Fairy, Swanhilda (Coppelia), The Glove Seller (Gaite Parisienne), The Cowgirl (Rodeo), La Sylphide, Cinderella, Dying Swan, Don Quixote and Le Corsaire pas de deux.
