Lesley Bandy grew up in New Zealand training in the RAD syllabus under Doreen O'Leary, and was coached by Rowena Jackson. She went to the UK at age 15 to study ballet full-time - first at the Scottish Ballet School in Edinburgh 1967 (performing the role of Myrtha) and then at the Royal Ballet School in London 1968/69.

Lesley danced with the Royal Opera Ballet at Covent Garden, then as Principal and Adagio dancer in production shows - Lido in Paris, in Hong Kong, Reno & Las Vegas. She guested in classical ballet roles, in contemporary dance concerts, and had many pieces choreographed on her.

In the US, Lesley performed many of the leading classical ballet roles including: Giselle, Sugar Plum Fairy, Swanhilda (Coppelia), The Glove Seller (Gaite Parisienne), The Cowgirl (Rodeo), La Sylphide, Cinderella, Dying Swan, Don Quixote and Le Corsaire pas de deux.
